Charming scarecrows made from terracotta pots

A scarecrow as a decoration is the epitome of fall and garden happiness. This charming craft idea is perfect as a table decoration or for the garden. With a few clay pots, some fabric and creativity, you can quickly and easily make your own autumnal eye-catcher! We'll show you how to make it yourself.

Step 1: Glue the clay pots together
In our example, we have used two terracotta pots with a diameter of 7 cm and 9 cm. Glue the two clay pots together with hot glue so that they stick together at the top edge. Use the pots with the same diameter for this.
Step 2: Paint the pots
Now you can paint the terracotta pots with one or more colors of your choice and decorate them with individual patterns. In this example, we have painted one of the scarecrows with olive green handicraft paint painted. Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Step 3: Attach wood wool
Use hot glue to attach some wood wool to the top of the upper pot. This will serve as the base for the head.

Step 4: Design the scarecrow's head
Wrap a polystyrene ball with a piece of fabric. We used a fabric with a linen look for this. Tie the fabric together at the bottom with a jute ribbon to form the head. Use a permanent-marker to draw a friendly face on the fabric. Glue the head onto the previously attached wood wool.
Step 5: Attach the hat and hair
Use wood wool, again to attach it to the scarecrow's head as hair. Then cut out a triangle of fabric and wrap it around the scarecrow's head as a hat. If necessary, attach the fabric with hot glue.
Step 6: Add decorative elements
Wrap jute ribbon around the gluing point where the two clay pots are joined for a rustic look. Attach sunflowers and colorful scatter decoration to your scarecrow to give it a personal and colorful touch.
