Creative Christmas with Felt Gnomes
Christmas is just around the corner, and what could bring more joy than handmade decorations that radiate warmth and creativity? In this guide, we'll show you how to make charming gnomes with crafting felt that not only beautify your home but also bring smiles to the faces of your loved ones. Whether small or in XXL, these felt gnomes are the perfect eye-catcher and give you the opportunity to fully unleash your creativity!
Gnome in the Forest
Felt is ideal for making figures like our forest gnomes. Glued onto crey cardboard or cardstock, they're stable enough to be displayed as decorations.
Making Christmas Gnomes
In this idea, kids can join in – it’s so much fun! Just make sure an adult handles the hot glue gun.
On the template, all the figure parts of the gnomes are illustrated as outlines. First, you should copy or print the template sheet. You can easily cut out the individual figure parts from the paper and use them as templates for the felt cutouts. Each figure part can now be conveniently placed on the felt, traced with a pen, and then cut out:
Hat, beard, face, and hands are cut from thin felt sheets.
The gnome body is also cut from a felt sheet. The body is glued onto crey cardboard in another step, bent into gnome shape, and glued together.
Now position the cut-out felt beard at the top edge of the body and glue it on.
Then also attach the hands, face, and mustache. Finally, the gnomes get their finished faces with wiggly eyes and wooden balls for noses.
Now shape the hat into a pointed cone and glue it together. A wooden ball is attached to the top. Finally, you can add some hot glue inside the hat to keep it stable. Alternatively: the gnome can be used as "packaging" for a bottle if not fixed.
Making Gnomes in XXL
For those looking for something more eye-catching, the XXL crafting set is perfect. From this set, you can create two impressive gnomes measuring about 33 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter. These large specimens are sure to be the highlight of your Christmas decoration.
