Make your own Christmas tree memory

Step 1: Stain the sticks

Start by applying wood stain to the wooden sticks. You can use a brush for this. Make sure not to stain the entire stick, as most of it will be covered later. We need 12 pairs for the memory game, so 24 sticks in total. Let the stain dry well, which happens surprisingly fast with a thin layer.

Step 2: Create templates

Print out the template for the trees. For added stability, you can glue them onto cardboard and cut them out. Alternatively, you can draw your own templates. Ensure that the smaller template is sized so that it leaves enough edge when placed on the larger template.

Step 3: Create the pattern side

Select as many designs from the patterned paper block as you need for your memory game, namely 12 in our case. With the SMALLER tree template, draw two trees per design and cut them out.

For the backside, we use a simple, solid dark green cardboard. This side will be visible later and should not have additional patterns or decorations. Use the LARGER template to cut out 24 trees.

Step 5: Assemble the components

Now we assemble the trees. Place a green tree in front of you, then glue a stick to the center. Ensure each tree's stick protrudes about the same distance to maintain the game's enjoyment. Glue a patterned tree on top, and your first tree is ready. Repeat with all others.

Once everything is well dried, the game can begin! It looks amazing, like a small forest on the table.
