Now that the weather is better, the barbecue season has finally started again. This means that the most delicious delicacies are coming from the kitchen to the table. But to protect the food outside from insects, bowls, cups and dishes are often covered with cling film. But to save all that plastic waste afterwards, we have a simple and sustainable solution for you: reusable cover cloths!
It does not get any easier than this:
Draw a circle on any fabric. This circle should be slightly larger than the bowl to be covered. Then cut out the circle with a pair of pinking scissorsNow cover your work surface and place the cut-out fabric circle on top. Apply the Tex Wax to both sides with a brush or sponge. The whole thing must then harden for about 2 hours.
After Tex Wax has been applied and treated with heat (hairdryer or iron), it is absorbed into the fibres of the fabric and transforms the material into a reusable, breathable film. This can be shaped by the heat of the hands. In this way, countless covers can be produced for the most diverse cups, bowls and dishes. Tip: The whole thing also works for glasses, of course. Just cut out the fabric as usual, if necessary cut a hole in the middle for a straw and then coat it with wax. So insects have no chance to land in your drink!
