Instructions No. 2902
Difficulty: Advanced
Working time: 3 Hours 30 Minutes
First, print out the template and transfer all the motifs onto the craft felt, the fusible web and the motif fabric as shown below. Cut everything out with sharp scissors.
4x antlers - craft felt light brown
2x antlers - fusible web
1x nose - craft felt brown
1x forehead - white craft felt
2x inner ear - white craft felt
4x ears - motif fabric linen look
2x ears - fusible web
The ears:
First sew the inner ears onto the ears motif fabric using the zigzag stitch. Then place the fusible web on the back and the second ear motif fabric on top. Press the ears together on a medium setting. The fusible web sticks the two pieces of fabric together. For a nicer look, sew the edges of the ears with a zigzag stitch.
The antlers:
Place a piece of fusible web antler between each of two pieces of craft felt antler and iron them together. Make sure that you place a cloth or fabric between them when ironing felt . Sew the edges with a zigzag stitch.
Envelope:
Draw a rectangle measuring 45 cm high x 25 cm wide on both fabrics and on the fusible web. Note that you will need to mark a seam allowance on the fabrics later. Therefore, leave enough space at the edges of the fabric.
Lay the fabric in front of you with the short side facing you. Draw a center line vertically along the long sides. Mark the points on the upper short side, starting from the center line 2 cm to the left and 2 cm to the right. On the center line, mark the point at 6 cm. Draw a horizontal line from this point. Connect the ends of the line with the two points at the top of the line. You can now see the envelope flap. Mark the 1 cm seam allowance on the fabrics and cut everything out.
Now draw a horizontal line at 17 cm on the motif fabric and a horizontal line at 34 cm from this line. It is best to do this with a marker pen, as this can be easily wiped away later with a little water.
Lay the motif fabric blank on the table with the right side facing up. First fix the front part to the fabric using pins and sew it on using a zigzag stitch. Repeat the same with the nose. You can then sew on the antlers at the point marked at 34 cm and the ears.
Turn the fabric inside out and iron on the fusible web. Now remove the backing film. Turn it right side up again and place the cotton fabric-blank on top. Pin both pieces together using pins and sew along the seam allowance. Leave a turning opening at the side. Turn the envelope inside out and press over again so that the cotton fabric is also joined to the fusible web.
Fold the envelope at the point marked at 17 cm and sew the sides together using the zigzag stitch. This also closes the turning opening. Now cut two pieces of the same size from both halves of the Velcro tape. Join the two pieces and stick the first adhesive side to the inside of the envelope flap. Close it so that the second adhesive side now also sticks to the envelope. Optimum adhesion is achieved after approx. 24 hours. Finally, the wobbly eyes are glued on, done.
